Got a capture card!

i recently purchased a capture card so i can do some console game footage with great quality.
i bought an Avermedia Game Broadcaster HD C127. i love it.

pros-simple instalation, cheap at 140$ with free shipping, fantastic quality, you can even record the footage from another computer using either the hdmi or vga ports on the card. even the bios/post screens during startup, the included software is both easy to use and feature packed(can auto split at desired times or file sizes) if you have a decently powerful system you can record straight to h.264 mp4 codec. i however use bandicam to do my recordings because i like how that works.

cons-horrible HDCP copy protection causes issues with the ps3 when using HDMI. but a 10$ component cable fixes that issue. And that is pretty much it! this isnt a fault of the card but the ps3.

i already uploaded some gears of war 3 and mortal kombat vs dc universe(ps3) footage checkout my channle for those. just a note the MK footage had a minor audio delay because i was using an HDMI cable on the ps3. i have a component cable coming to fix that though. damn HDCP you suck.

Also another note. when i capture footage both pc and consoles i play in 1080p but with bandicam i have the option to resize the capture in real time to 720p for smaller files. I then use Handbrake to encode the .avi files to h.264 mp4 file format to compress the file down to a manageable level for upload. If i need to edit something out of the footage i use windows movie maker and that outputs a .wmv file with slightly less efficient compression but comparable quality. The end result is a 1080p video with 720p file sizes. But i also use some pretty hefty compression so quality whores out there dont worry the Game Broadcaster HD can actually output even better looking files. (yes even better than the Hauppauge HD PVR standalone capture device).
